Battle of the Immortals, the upcoming 2.5D free to play massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) from Perfect World Entertainment (those crazy kids behind Torchlight) was due to open their doors to select closed beta testers today. That is no longer the case psp games.
“Over the past several months, we have been localizing, updating, patching, revising, and testing BoI. Now over the past week, we’ve been slaving away, working nights, coordinating with the development team, and drinking energy drinks non-stop. We’ve made a huge amount of progress with our version of BoI, however we’re still not satisfied with the results,” says a spokesperson for Perfect World Entertainment on their blog.
“We want to provide all Perfect World Entertainment users with the cleanest and most polished game experience possible and as a result we have decided to delay the Closed Beta for BoI until mid-April.”
Whether this delay will have a cascading effect on the ultimate release of the game is unknown, though we were told the delay is “just for the closed beta”. Considering the size of the delay, it seems unlikely that that they will be pushing a final version as soon as they had hoped, but as no official release date had been given (only one for a closed beta), we can’t exactly complain.
